Since 2014, Action Park Alliance has been at the forefront of adaptive skatepark programming. The World WCMX Championship, founded by APA, began as an evolution of our event production and community engagement efforts—giving wheelchair motocross (WCMX) and adaptive skateboarding athletes a global stage to showcase their talent and inspire others.
Through these events, we’ve cultivated a platform that highlights ability over disability—helping cities and parks departments create spaces where everyone can roll, ride, and belong.
Expanding Opportunities for Every Community
What started as a single event has evolved into a network of inclusive programs across the country and around the world. APA continues to provide workshops, contests, and demonstrations designed to bring adaptive sports into mainstream recreation.
Our team partners with municipalities, schools, and nonprofits to design programs that not only serve adaptive athletes but also strengthen community pride and participation. By integrating inclusion into skateparks, cities can transform these facilities into true hubs of diversity and engagement.
Global Growth & the World WCMX Federation
As awareness and enthusiasm for adaptive skateboarding expand, so does the reach of World WCMX. In 2023, we began the process of establishing the World WCMX Federation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization representing adaptive athletes and advocates from around the world.
This next chapter will allow us to further our mission—promoting inclusion, accessibility, and opportunity in skateparks everywhere. With international representatives and collaborative partnerships, we’re uniting the global adaptive sports community under one mission: inclusion through action.
